Trumansburg
(Released July

On July 19-22, the Community Coalition for Healthy Youth of Tompkins County once again partnered with local teens to sponsor “Project Sticker Shock” in Trumansburg and Jacksonville to coincide with the GrassRoots Festival.
Coalition members along with young people implemented
“Project Sticker Shock,” a community-led campaign to change adult attitudes and
behaviors about selling and providing alcohol to minors. This public awareness campaign took
place in stores in Trumansburg and
The Community Coalition for Healthy Youth is dedicated to educating the community and visitors to the area about the consequences of underage drinking.
The Coalition notes that it is important to know the legal perspective, but it is also important to help keep our youth safe. When adults supply alcohol to youth it sends a very mixed message. Parents, youth, law enforcement, community members and retail stores all need to be part of the solution.
